Fordon is a small village in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, near the border with North Yorkshire. It is situated approximately south of Scarborough and north-west of Bridlington. It forms part of the civil parish of Wold Newton. There is a small church dedicated to St James that is now a Grade II * listed building. The village is thought to be one of the smallest villages in the United Kingdom. The name Fordon is thought to mean 'In front of the hill'〔 〕 In 1823 Fordon was in the parish of Hunmanby and the Wapentake of Dickering. Occupations at the time included three farmers.〔Baines, Edward (1823): ''History, Directory and Gazetteer of the County of York'', p. 207〕 ==References== * 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「Fordon, East Riding of Yorkshire」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
